Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen, has lauded Ademola Lookman for his well-deserved triumph as the African Men’s Player of the Year at the 2024 CAF Awards held in Marrakech, Morocco.
Lookman defeated the likes of Ronwen Williams, Serhou Guirassy, and Achraf Hakimi to claim the prestigious honor.
Lookman, who has been in exceptional form for both club and country, played a pivotal role in leading the Super Eagles to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scoring three goals. He also helped Atalanta secure their first European trophy, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s finest footballers.
Eguavoen commended Lookman for his commitment and maturity, highlighting how his performances for both club and country set him apart. “You could see maturity in his game. He didn’t just play for himself—he played for the team, and that’s what made him stand out,” Eguavoen said in an interview with Afrikaanspective.
The NFF Technical Director also emphasized Lookman’s ability to consistently deliver when needed, adding, “Ademola Lookman’s performance for both country and club speaks volumes. He rises to every occasion, either scoring or assisting, and always maintains a positive attitude.”
Lookman’s remarkable performances this year have earned him widespread recognition, and his achievements continue to inspire both aspiring footballers and fans across Africa.
