Heartland coach Uzor bemoans dropped points against Bendel Insurance

By Wale Mustapha

Heartland FC head coach, Charles Uzor, expressed his frustration after his side failed to secure a win against Insurance FC in their 1-1 draw on Sunday.

The match, part of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 17, took place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Uzor, who stood in for the club’s Technical Adviser Emmanuel Amuneke at the post-match briefing, pointed to the team’s inconsistency as a key issue that needs urgent attention.

Despite starting the game strong with an early goal, Heartland’s concentration waned in the closing stages, allowing Insurance FC to equalize.

“It was a game we started well and even scored an early goal, but our boys lost concentration in the dying minutes and conceded that goal,” Uzor lamented.

He stressed that now was not the time for blame but for reflection and improvement: “This is no time for apportioning blame, we shall go back and take a look at what we did wrong to make corrections on time.”

Heartland will next face Akwa United in their upcoming fixture, as they look to bounce back from the dropped points.
