“He’s like Cristiano” — Ex-Besiktas star Nihat Kahveci hails Victor Osimhen’s speed

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former Beşiktaş forward Nihat Kahveci has drawn an exciting comparison between Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen and one of football’s all-time greats, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kahveci’s remarks come after Osimhen’s remarkable display of speed during Galatasaray’s thrilling 3-2 win over Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

Now a pundit for Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), Kahveci, affectionately known as Nihat, was quick to praise Osimhen’s athleticism.

Reflecting on his own playing career, he described Osimhen’s pace as extraordinary, likening it to the acceleration of a sports car.

Speaking on the Kontraspor YouTube channel via Haber Global, he said, “He’s like Cristiano [Ronaldo]. I thought I was fast when I was running with him.”

He further elaborated, comparing Osimhen’s speed to a “sports button” in cars, offering a burst of acceleration.

“Osimhen stretches very well; another centre-forward couldn’t easily reach that ball,” he explained, emphasizing the Nigerian’s unique ability to outpace defenders.

The reigning African Player of the Year has been in superb form this season, scoring seven goals in the Turkish Super League and ten in all competitions for Galatasaray.

His blistering speed and clinical finishing continue to make him one of Europe’s most exciting talents.

Kahveci’s comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo only underscores Osimhen’s growing reputation as one of the most dynamic strikers in world football.
