“I never achieved my goal as a player” – Edo Queens coach harps on indiscipline

Title-winning coach of Bayelsa Queens, Moses Aduku says one major reason why he couldn’t achieve his goal as a football player was due to indiscipline.
The Nigerian U-20 Women’s national team Assistant coach joined Edo Queens after guiding Bayelsa Queens to win the last Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title in Benin City, Edo State.
“I never thought or intended that I was going to be a coach as a player. I planned to be the one that will change the face of Nigerian football with my influence to clean up the game of football. I never achieved my goal as a result of indiscipline.” Says Coach Moses Aduku during a seminar for players, coaches, and officials which was organised at the sidelines of the Sheroes Cup.
Coach Aduku while stating the importance of discipline in a football team opined that it is imperative to manage players’ attitudes before sending her out if the attitude affects the team.
He said: “While playing, my colleagues do call me above the law due to being indisciplined. The seed you sow sometimes hits you back. I was determined not to fail as a coach as I did as a player.
“If I have an indisciplined player, I will try to manage the player but if the player is affecting the team, one will have to do without him or her. Indiscipline can’t take a player anywhere. 80% of players in a team are talented and indisciplined players. We need to manage them and if they are affecting the team, we need to let them go.”
After a disappointing 2020/2021 season, Moses Aduku led Bayelsa Queens to the 2021 Aiteo Cup (FA Cup) title.
The team also won the 2021 Betsy Obaseki women’s football pre-season tournament before winning the league title in 2022. He joined Edo Queens after winning the league title and had since been replaced by Domo Okara.
