Ibrahim Shuaibu makes NPFL return with Niger Tornadoes after Europe stint

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former Giwa FC striker, Ibrahim Shuaibu has linked up with Niger Tornadoes of Minna after seven years in Europe.
Shuaibu had played mostly in Norway and Armenia and a few others before retracing his steps back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), where he was a household name during his time at the defunct Giwa of Jos.
The forward scored double digits in the first season at Giwa FC in the elite league, with the likes of Ocheme Edoh as twin strikers, under the watchful eyes of Coach Abdullahi Biffo.
Giwa FC ended the season in the fourth position that year, all thanks to Ibrahim Shuaibu and Ocheme Edoh, who both played and scored more than 20 goals, that season.
After playing for Giwa FC on loan for the 2015 season, Ibrahim went on trial with Norwegian side FK Haugesund in early 2016, before signing a three-year contract with Haugesund on 30 January 2016.
In February 2022, Armenian Premier League club Noravank announced the singing of Ibrahim before joining Iraqi club Erbil on 5 August 2022, scoring 64 goals in 187 matches played across leagues in Europe.
He is expected to bring his wealth of experience to help revitalize the blunt Ikon Allah Boys’ attack in the second stanza of the league after reportedly signing on the dotted lines with Niger Tornadoes.
