With impressive form for French women’s top-flight side, Montpellier, Nigeria forward Ifeoma Onumonu says former Nigeria international John Utaka has been of immense help as far as her stay in France is concerned.
The former Gotham FC forward left the United States of America (USA) for the first time in her career ahead of the 2024/2025 season, and the move has been a successful one so far.
She has scored five goals with an assist in eight league games for Montpellier in her debut season.
Onumonu attributed the form to tips she got from Utaka who is part of Montpellier men’s coaching staff.
“It feels good to have Utaka at Montpellier,” Onumonu told OJB Sports.
“He comes to our training sessions when we have lighter ones and gives me tips with finishing drills.”
“It is good to have a fellow Nigerian near the team, and the tips that he gives have helped me,” she added
Ifeoma Onumonu has been in fine form for club and country.
She became the first-ever Super Falcons player to score against France last month during a 2-1 loss to Le Bleues in an international friendly match.
