Ifeoma Onumonu continued her goal-scoring form for French women’s top-flight side, Montpellier, as her strike sealed a 1-0 win for the host against FC Nantes on Friday.

The Nigerian forward was set up by Lea Khelifi in the 70th minute for the winning goal.

The goal marked her fourth in the league this season since moving from the United States National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side, Gotham FC.

She has also bagged an assist in seven league games for Montpellier.

The Super Falcons player was replaced by Cameroon’s Nina Ngueleu in the 89th minute.

With the win, Montpellier moved to the sixth position on the log with 13 points after eight games.

They will next face Saint Etienne on November 23, 2024.

Onumonu has been an integral part of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team side in recent years.

She made an appearance at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco as the nine-time African champions finished fourth to qualify for the World Cup.

At the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Onumonu also made the roster as Randy Waldrum’s tutored side reached the Round of 16.

Recently, she made the squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics in France.
