Igho Ogbu celebrates maiden Super Eagles call-up with goal and man-of-the-match display

Nigeria central defender Igho Ogbu celebrated his first-ever call-up to Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, with a standout performance for Slavia Praha in their 3-0 victory over Jablonec in the Czech League.

The 25-year-old, recently named in Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers, opened the scoring in the ninth minute.

Ogbu showcased his clinical finishing ability by converting a well-executed team move, securing his second league goal of the season.

His performance not only earned him the Man of the Match award but also marked a significant achievement in his career.

Ogbu’s call-up to the Super Eagles is a milestone after representing Nigeria’s Flying Eagles at youth level.

He will now join the national team for their crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, as Nigeria prepares for the next stage in their qualification campaign.
