Nigerian forward, Imoh Ezekiel, has formally severed ties with Turkish club Konyaspor, citing a breach of agreement, according to a report by Completesportsnigeria.com. The termination comes as Ezekiel struggled to regain his goal-scoring prowess during his tenure with the club, coupled with alleged mistreatment over the past six months, as disclosed by his representative, Haji Liammed Gafaar.
In an exclusive statement to Completesportsnigeria.com, Gafaar remarked, “Imoh has terminated his contract, and he is now a free player. All the promises made by Konyaspor when he signed were left unfulfilled. Under these circumstances, it becomes challenging for a young talent like Imoh to flourish. He is a player with immense potential.”
Ezekiel had inked a lucrative three-year deal with Konyaspor, valued at £3.75 million, last summer, after making a move from the Qatari side, Al Arabi.
The abrupt termination has triggered a shakeup within the club, with Istanbul Başakşehir striker Mehmet Batdal poised to step into Ezekiel’s shoes at Konyaspor.
The decision by the Nigerian forward to part ways with the Turkish club sheds light on the complexities often faced by players in the professional football arena, emphasizing the significance of transparent agreements and conducive environments for the development of emerging talents.
