Rumour Mills: Italian Serie A side AS Roma line up bid for Kelechi Iheanacho

Italian Serie A side, AS Roma are set to line up a bid for Leicester City FC forward, Kelechi Iheanacho after his side’s relegation to the second-tier English Championship.

According to Italian news outlet, Gazzetta dello Sport, the Galliorosi are prepared to sign Iheanacho and his teammate and Zambian international Patson Daka this summer.

Roma’s general manager, Tiago Pinto flew to London on Monday to conduct the transfer business.

Pinto could meet with the Foxes representatives to discuss the availability of both Iheanacho and Daka.

The two players are looking to move away from the club after they were relegated from the top flight last season.

Turkish outfit Besiktas and a number of Premier League clubs are also reportedly interested in the Nigeria international.

Everton and Nottingham Forest are the other English Premier League clubs intereted in signing Iheanacho.

Iheanacho joined Leicester from Manchester City ahead of the 2017/2018 season and has spent six seasons with the team.

He was part of the side that won the FA Cup alongside compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi before its relegation.

The Super Eagles player had a breakthrough season in the 2020/2021 English Premier League as he scored 12 goals, the most by the forward in the league after 25 games.
