‘It’s a learning curve’ – Randy Waldrum unruffled despite Nigeria’s loss to Mexico

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Head coach of Nigeria women’s national team, Randy Waldrum has stated that his side is still in a learning curve ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup following a 1-0 defeat to Mexico in Leon on Wednesday.
The Super Falcons started its campaign at the maiden Revelation Cup on a losing note no thanks to Kiana Palacios’ 85th minute late winner at the Leon Stadium.
Waldrum after the match opined that there are young players in the squad that needs to blend with the team as it’s still a work in progress in preparations for the World Cup.
“I think we played well before Mexico got into the game in the last 20 minutes of the first half. In the second half, we had time to organise ourselves better and came out well,” Waldrum told media.
“We had young players in the team for this game and it’s a learning curve for us.”
On Rofiat Imuran’s health situation following her first half first half injury, Waldrum gave an update: saying “Will have to speak with the doctor to see how serious it is. I think our left back Rofiat Imuran had issues with her stomach. It affected the game tactically.”
Super Falcons will hope to recover from a sixth defeat when it faces Colombia on February 18 before they will end its campaign at the Revelation against Costa Rica on February 21, 2022.
