The Premier League encounter at the Vitality Stadium put Southampton in a difficult situation as they face a contrasting fortunes to their hosts, who were enjoying a highflying form under their caretaker coach, Gary O’ Neil.
It was Che Adams’ first half header that earned the Saints their first league win since August and also their first on the road in 19 attempts.
Despite a change in tactics and approach for Bournemouth, the visitors prevented any chaos in their defence throughout the second half as the away side presented a strong and stable back line.
Aribo would then be swapped for Lyanco who also made sure there were no way back for the Cherries to level up.
The former Rangers of Scotland schemer has now made 11 appearances for Southampton out of 12 league games scoring two goals.
