John Okoli scores and bags assist in Arab Contractors victory over El Ismaily

Nigeria forward John Okoli put up a man-of-the-match performance as he scored a goal with an assist as his Egyptian Premier League side, Arab Contractors earned a 3-1 win over El Ismaily on Friday.

El Ismail ahead of the game had lost four of its previous five league games with a draw in the other game.

Arab Contractors had won its previous two league games and got off to a bright start when John Okoli set up Omar Fathi for the first goal of the match in the  50th minute.

Three minutes later, the visitors’ celebration was shortlived as the hosts equalised thanks to Mohamed El Shami’s strike.

Mamadou Niass Ndiacko, however restored the visitors’ lead in the 61st minute before assisting Okoli for the Cairo-based side’s third goal in the 80th minute.

Okoli saw 95 minutes of action before he was replaced by Mohamed Abdelnasser after scoring his third goal in 13 league games. He has also bagged two assists in the league this season.

Arab Contractors occupy the log with 21 points after 13 games and they will next face ninth-placed Aswan SC at the Arab Contractors Stadium, Cairo on January 19, 2023.
