Jolomi Atune criticises Ladan Bosso’s wholesale changes to Nigeria U20 squad

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former assistant coach of Nigeria’s U20 team Jolomi Atune has expressed concern about the wholesale squad changes made by coach Ladan Bosso ahead of the final preparation for the Africa U20 cup of nations in Egypt.
Atune who was recently appointed as the head coach of NPFL side Warri Wolves was part of the crew that won the WAFU U20 Cup in May 2022 with Ladan Bosso before being dropped alongside some other members.
He believes this will portend a challenge to the technical crew that should by now be thinking of maximising the gain of continuity.

“I understand the current situation with dropped captain of the team Tosin Adegbite, but the same can’t be said of others,” he told Brila FM.

Bosso had invited 35 players to resume camping in Abuja on Monday as preparations for this year’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations begins in earnest.
Seven-time champions Nigeria will do battle with host nation, Egypt, Senegal and Mozambique in Group A of the 12-nation tournament taking place in the cities of Cairo, Alexandria and Ismailia, 19th February – 11th March.
All four semi-finalists at the championship will fly Africa’s flag at this year’s FIFA U20 World Cup.
