Jose Peseiro not ruling out Victor Osimhen’s Napoli exit

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria men’s national team head coach, Jose Peseiro has expressed his opinion on Victor Osimhen’s contract extension saga with Napoli.
The Super Eagles striker is yet to put pen on a deal with the club, despite months of talks, with his current contract set to expire in 2025.
The 24-year-old led the Partenopei to their first Scudetto in 33 years last season, winning the Cappocanoniere (Golden Boot) with 26 league goals and becoming the highest-scoring African in Serie A history along the way.
The Nigerian has been linked with a move away from Napoli with Premier League clubs monitoring as talks on a new deal with the Partenopei have stalled since the summer.
However, the national team coach believes that winning at a club like Napoli is more valuable, but it is logical for the player to seek higher adventure in his career.
The Portuguese would love to see Osimhen accept the offer of bigger teams when they eventually arrive.
“In the new football, you can’t say that Osimhen will stay at Napoli forever,” he said, per TuttoNapoli.
“Today he is happy; winning in Naples is more fascinating than with Milan, with Inter, or with City because everyone had lower expectations.
“Furthermore, everyone can connect him to Maradona: before he was the Italian champion in Naples, today it is Osimhen.
“In today’s business, everything can change: if an important offer arrives for him and for the club, logically, he can change team.
“Furthermore, he can think about changing the league. For Italy, it would be better to have it. Once upon a time, Italy could afford the best players in the world, but today not. There is more money in the Premier League and the other European countries.”
