Joy Omewa lifts Fortuna Hjorring to end-of-the-year win over Odense

Nigeria forward, Joy Omewa scored the winner to ensure a 2-1 victory for Danish side Fortuna Hjorring against Odense in their final match of the year and regular season.

Her team had to come from a goal down to claim victory at the Nature Energy Park, Odense on Saturday.

Dikte Bang scored the first goal of the encounter in the 24th minute giving the host a half time.

In the 63rd minute, Anastasia Pobegaylo equalized for the visitors.

Fortuna had the chance to go ahead for the first time in the game, and Omewa capitalized by scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 80th minute.

She played the duration of the match and scored her 11th goal of the season in the league.

The former Confluence Queens forward has also provided four assists from 14 league games.

She ended the regular season as the league’s top goal scorer while her team topped the log with 36 points after 14 games.

Up next is preparation for the playoffs in 2025, where the league title is at stake and qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

In between, the team will also face Koge in the quarter-final of the Danish Cup in 2025.
