Joy Omewa nets sixth goal of season in Fortuna Hjorring’s crushing win over B93

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria international Joy Omewa played a key role in Fortuna Hjorring’s dominant 4-0 victory over her former team, B93, in a Danish topflight league clash on Sunday.

The win saw Fortuna move up to second place in the league standings with 24 points, just three points behind leaders Nordsjaelland.

Omewa was one of the standout performers, scoring her sixth goal of the season in the 20th minute to double the lead for the visitors.

She was set up by Florentina Olar-Spani after Ashley Riefner had opened the scoring in the 10th minute. The game continued to favor Fortuna as Anastasia Pobegaylo added two more goals in the second half, securing the victory with a brace.

Omewa was substituted in the 59th minute after a strong showing, having contributed not just with her goal but also with three assists this season, which reinforces her importance to Fortuna’s title challenge.

With just four games left in the season, Fortuna will face Nordsjaelland on November 11 in a potential title-deciding showdown.

Fortuna’s victory sets the stage for an exciting conclusion to the season, as the top two teams will battle it out for the championship.
