Juliet Sunday’s goal not enough to halt Hapoel Beersheva loss to Ramat Hasharon

Nigerian forward Juliet Sunday found the net for Hapoel Beer Sheva, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 2-1 loss against Ramat Hasharon in their Israeli women’s top flight match on Thursday.

After falling behind 2-0 due to goals from Alicia Pallister and Avrava Shahaf, Sunday scored in stoppage time to reduce the deficit, marking her second goal in as many league matches since joining Hapoel Beer Sheva.

Prior to her move to Israel, Sunday had notable stints with Bayelsa Queens in Nigeria and Gintra FC in Lithuania.

In another match, Nigerian player Olaiya Barakat played the full 90 minutes for Tel Aviv in their goalless draw against Katamon. Other African players active in the Israeli league include Doris Boaduwaa (Katamon), Rachael Nachula, and Portia Boakye (Petka).
