Kano Pillars mourns loss of former player Abubakar Lawal

Kano Pillars is mourning the tragic death of their former player, Abubakar Lawal, who passed away in a road accident on Monday.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who previously played for the club before moving to Uganda Premier League side Vipers Sports Club, is remembered fondly by the Kano Pillars family.

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our former player, Abubakar Lawal,” the club said in a statement.

“His untimely departure is a great loss to the football community, and he will always be remembered for his contribution to the club.”

Lawal’s current team, Vipers SC, also expressed their sorrow. “We are devastated by the loss of our player and friend,” the club said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. We will miss his dedication, passion, and commitment to the team.”

Fans and members of the football community have flooded social media with tributes.

“RIP Abubakar Lawal, you will be deeply missed,” tweeted @Vipers_SC_Fan.

“This is a huge loss for Vipers SC and the entire football community,” said @Uganda_Football.

Another fan, @Nigerian_Football, shared: “Abubakar Lawal was a talented player with a bright future ahead of him. His passing is a sad loss for Nigerian football.”

Kano Pillars has vowed to support Lawal’s family during this difficult time. The club will also hold a memorial service to celebrate his life and honor his memory.

In addition, players and staff will wear black armbands in their next match as a mark of respect for the late player.
