Karen Carney attributes Alex Iwobi’s form to Fulham coach Marco Silva

By Saheed Afolabi

Former England international, Karen Carney, has praised Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi for his exceptional form this season, crediting the tactical brilliance of Fulham head coach Marco Silva for the player’s impressive performances.

Iwobi scored a stunning brace in Fulham’s 3-1 victory over Brighton on Wednesday, further solidifying his impact in the Premier League.

Carney acknowledged Iwobi’s work ethic and skill, noting his ability to hold off opposing players and make significant contributions in the middle of the park.

“He has always been a worker, a grafter in the team, but it’s that quality,” Carney said, as quoted by English Premier League. “I think tonight, playing in that more central role, he had that responsibility.”

Carney also highlighted Iwobi’s growth as a player, pointing to his maturity at the age of 28, as well as his evolution under Silva’s guidance.

“He’s matured now, he’s 28, he’s an experienced player under a manager that gets the best out of people. Marco is certainly getting the best out of Alex Iwobi,” Carney added.

Fulham currently occupy sixth place in the Premier League standings with 22 points from 14 games, and Iwobi’s stellar form has been a key factor in their strong start to the season.
