Former Nigeria international, Dimeji Lawal, is confident that Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface will soon start finding the back of the net for the Super Eagles, despite his goal-scoring struggles in the national team.
Although Boniface has had several appearances for the Super Eagles, he is yet to score for the national team.
Lawal, however, described him as an intelligent player who has consistently delivered top performances for both his club and country.
“Boniface is a brilliant player as far as I am concerned. His commitment to both club and country has always been top-notch,” Lawal said, speaking to Complete Sports.
“I just believe it is a matter of time before Nigerians see him start scoring goals for the Super Eagles, the same way he does for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.”
Lawal also cautioned critics against writing off Boniface too soon, noting that every player experiences challenging moments.
“Don’t write him off yet because every player has their difficult moments as well. I am confident Boniface will be a good asset for the senior national team,” he added.
With his strong performances at club level, Lawal believes Boniface’s breakthrough for the Super Eagles is just around the corner.
