Kayode Olanrewaju Sets Sights on Breaking Goal Drought Against Celta Vigo

Nigerian striker Kayode Olanrewaju, currently plying his trade with Girona in the LaLiga Santander, has expressed his ardent desire to break his goal-scoring dry spell as he gears up for the highly anticipated clash against Celta Vigo. Despite a prolific campaign with Austria Vienna, where he netted 24 goals in 48 matches last season, Kayode is yet to find the back of the net since joining Girona on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.

The 24-year-old forward, who was acquired by Manchester City for a substantial £3 million from Austria Vienna on a four-year contract, has faced a challenging start to life in LaLiga, failing to score in his initial six outings. Nonetheless, he remains undeterred and resolute in his pursuit of that elusive first goal.

“I know I’m here to score goals. It’s the job of the striker to score goals, so hopefully, I can score the first, and I’m sure it will be the first of many,” Kayode remarked in an exclusive interview with Completesportsnigeria.com. “I’m trying to settle here and I’m waiting for the first goal and excited about that possibility. Hopefully, I can score against Celta de Vigo.”

Girona, currently positioned at 17th place in the Spanish Primera División with five points from six matches, will look to Kayode to reignite their goal-scoring prowess. The anticipation for Kayode’s maiden LaLiga goal against Celta Vigo on Friday is palpable, both among the Girona faithful and fans worldwide, as they eagerly await the moment when the Nigerian striker finally shatters his goal-scoring drought.
