Kevin De Bruyne was scrappy at Chelsea – John Obi Mikel
By Saheed Afolabi
Former Nigeria international John Obi Mikel has described Kevin De Bruyne as scrappy during his time at Chelsea.
The duo played together at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho but De Bruyne left after failing to establish himself in the first team.
The former Super Eagles captain said the Belgian midfielder was always alone, moody and grumpy, stressing that he’s always filled with joy whenever he watches De Bruyne play now.
“Kevin was always a stroppy guy, he was always on his own, he was always moody, he was always grumpy. You could never get anything out of him,” Mikel told Dubai Eye 103.8.
“But now when I watch him play, what a joy. What a joy to watch.”
Mikel had a trophy-laden career at Chelsea spanning over a decade, winning two Premier League titles, four FA Cup, two League Cup, one Community Shield, Champions League and Europa League titles.
He’s the most decorated Nigeria player as he won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
