Lawrence Nicholas: Nigerian youngster inspires Fatih Karagumruk to big win

Nigerian midfielder Lawrence Nicholas had a remarkable outing for his side, Fatih Karagumruk on Wednesday in their 4-2 Super Lig away win at Kayserispor.

The highly rated youngster was a second half substitute in the match as he came on to steady the midfield for Karamguruk to secure one of their vital victories of the season.

With just half hour performance in the match at the Kadir Has Stadium, the midfield sensation got soccer faithful talking as many singled him out for superb display.

Kayserispor were looking to stage a return to winning ways having had their unbeaten streak ended last week but met their unanticipated shocker against Karagumruk.

A brace from Senegalese Mbaye Diagne and a goal each from Lervant Mercan and Otabek Shukurov condemned the visitors to an uninspiring defeat at the hands of the hosts.

Despite their spirited second half performance, it wasn’t enough to rescue Kayserispor from defeat as goals from Bernard Mensah and Ilhan Parlak counted for a consolation.

The victory, however lifted Karagumruk to 10th on the log with 19 points from 16 matches.

On the other hand, Kayserispor failed to move from their eight position with the defeat with 23 points in 16 games.
