Leicester City Faces Setback as Wilfred Ndidi Sees Red: Albrighton Voices Support

Leicester City encountered a setback in their recent clash against Crystal Palace, with midfielder Wilfred Ndidi receiving a red card on his 21st birthday, marking his first-ever dismissal since his move to Europe in 2015. The incident, officiated by referee Martin Atkinson, unfolded last Saturday during a critical English Premier League encounter.

Expressing his perspective on the red card, Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton acknowledged the challenge and noted, “I don’t think we can complain too much.” Albrighton continued, “Wilf (Ndidi) said he did go down too late, and then Simmo (Danny Simpson) said there was a push for the disallowed goal.”

Despite the disappointment, Albrighton emphasized the need to move forward, recognizing Ndidi’s remorse for the pivotal moment. “He’s sat in there, and he’s devastated because at that moment, we were on top,” Albrighton stated. “That set us back a little bit, and we never quite got going after that.”

In a demonstration of solidarity, Albrighton highlighted the team’s supportive stance toward Ndidi, refraining from criticism. “He’s still young, and people forget that because he’d produced some great performances,” Albrighton remarked. “He’s a great lad, and he’ll be gutted more than anyone having done that. None of the lads will get on his back, and we will encourage him to go again.”

Leicester City now faces the absence of Ndidi in the upcoming Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester City on Tuesday, presenting an additional challenge for the team. Despite the setback, the Foxes remain determined to overcome obstacles and maintain their competitive edge in the league.
