Lobi Stars risk elimination from NPFL over unpaid salaries to players, officials

Lobi Stars might be the first culprit of elimination from the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL season over indebtedness to their players and officials.
Sources in Markudi informed NigeriaFootball that the Lobi Stars have not paid salaries to their players and officials since April, 2023.
In a recent circular sent by the league board, clubs with debt profile to either its players or officials will not be allowed to participate in the coming season as having a clean bill is part of requirements for registration.
One of the former players of Lobi Stars who told our correspondent on the condition of anonymity expressed his frustration over the ongoing situation, which has been happening at the club since May.
“Yes, I think since May, we haven’t received any salaries from the club management, ” said the player.
“We played and qualified for the NPFL Championship playoff in Lagos, but to date, nothing has been done.”
Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia led other top government officials to visit Lobi Stars at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi on Tuesday where he reassured his commitment to support the club in a bid to become more stronger.
The Governor also set up a five man committee led by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly that will work on new modalities to boost the standard of the club.
