Mikel Agu of Bursaspor Set for Knee Surgery as Focus Shifts to Hull Struggles for Aina

In a turn of events, Super Eagles and Bursaspor midfielder Mikel Agu is scheduled to undergo an arthroscopic menisectomy surgery on his right knee, following a series of setbacks that led to his withdrawal from Nigeria’s recent encounters against Algeria and Argentina. The knee injury has compelled Agu to sit out the next four weeks, a period encompassing crucial fixtures for Bursaspor.
Agu, 24, an influential defensive midfielder, has showcased remarkable form this season, tallying two goals in 11 appearances for Bursaspor. Regrettably, he will be unavailable for their upcoming matches, including the clash against Goztepe this Saturday, as well as encounters with Karabukspor, Adanaspor, Konyaspor, and Fenerbahce. The talented midfielder is anticipated to make a triumphant return against Trabzonspor on December 16.
Currently, on a season-long loan from FC Porto at Bursaspor, Agu has carved a significant presence in the football landscape. His career has seen stints with Club Brugge in Belgium and Vitória Setúbal in Portugal. Having made four international appearances for the Super Eagles, Agu’s absence will be felt in Nigeria’s midfield during this recovery period.
Meanwhile, another Nigerian football figure, Ola Aina, is shifting his focus from national team duty to address the challenging circumstances facing Hull City in the Championship, following an impressive outing with the Super Eagles.
