Mikel Agu Returns to Training with Bursaspor Following Knee Injury

Bursaspor midfielder, Mikel Agu, has taken a significant step towards returning to first-team action after resuming light training with the club on Thursday. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder had undergone an arthroscopic meniscectomy surgery on his right knee in November, leading to a temporary hiatus from the pitch.

Agu participated in sprint exercises at the club’s training ground on Thursday, signaling a positive development in his recovery process. Expressing his optimism, Agu stated, “I have started running and hopefully, in a couple of weeks, I will be back with my team again. I have been working hard to get fit again, and hopefully, you will see me back in action soon, by God’s grace.”

Prior to his injury, the Nigerian international showcased impressive form for Bursaspor, scoring twice in 11 appearances this season. Unfortunately, Agu missed the last four games against Goztepe, Karabukspor, Adanaspor, and Konyaspor, and is expected to be an observer in their Friday’s clash with Fenerbahce.

While a return next weekend against Trabzonspor on December 16 appears uncertain, Agu is gradually regaining fitness, and his return will undoubtedly be a boost for Bursaspor. The midfielder, who has four international caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, remains committed to making a strong comeback and contributing to his team’s success on the field.
