Monday Odigie not getting carried away despite Bendel Insurance perfect start

Monday Odigie insists Bendel Insurance are not getting carried away despite their perfect start to the ongoing  Nigeria Premier Football League campaign.
The Benin Arsenal have enjoyed seven wins nine consecutive matches to open a seven-point lead at the top Group A at the end of the first stanza with 23 points, ahead of Enyimba.
Nonetheless, it has been a remarkable run for the Benin City based outfit, who are unbeaten in their last nine league games in a run stretching back to January.
The plaudits keep on coming for the topflight newcomers, but the manager says his side will continue to narrow their focus and, to coin a footballing cliché, continue to take things game by game.
“We are just taking one game as it comes. One game after the other. For now, this unbeaten run is not part of the plan. We don’t even know if we are unbeaten or not,” Odigie told Brila FM.
“All we are trying to do is get ready for every opposition. We would take it one game after the other and see how it goes from there.
“People should not get carried away. Whatever is happening to the team now, I want to see it as time and season.
“It’s God’s time and season for the team to be where they are now. It’s not that our performance has been spectacular. We are just trying to do the best we can.”
Insurance will hope to continue such outstanding form when the league resumes later this month, with a trip to Aba where it will face Enyimba International FC at the start of second stanza. A 1-0 win courtesy of Imade Osehekoe’s goal separated both sides in Benin, a result Odigie will hope his wards can replicate.
