Morocco 2025: Tanimu gets late call up for Nigeria’s clash with Benin, Rwanda

By Wale Mustapha
Newly signed Crowley Town FC defender, Benjamin Tanimu, has received a late call-up to join Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Tanimu has been invited to replace Fenerbahçe’s full-back, Bright Osayi-Samuel, who has opted out of the upcoming matches due to personal reasons.
Tanimu arrived at the national team’s camp on Tuesday, joining other invited players as they prepare for their crucial fixtures. The Super Eagles, three-time AFCON winners, will first host Benin Republic on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. They will then travel to Kigali for a match against the Amavubi of Rwanda on Tuesday.
With three caps already to his name, Tanimu will be eager to add to his international experience and contribute to Nigeria’s campaign in the qualifiers.
The inclusion of Tanimu stresses the team’s depth and the ongoing efforts to ensure the best possible preparation for these pivotal matches.
