Moses, Salah, Mane, Ajayi Among Top Contenders for 2017 CAF Awards

In the highly anticipated 2017 Aiteo CAF African Player of the Year Awards, Super Eagles forward Victor Moses has secured a spot in the elite top 11 nominees, as revealed by CAF’s official Twitter handle. The 11-man shortlist comprises outstanding players from across the continent, including Mohamed Salah of Egypt, Sadio Mane of Senegal, Denis Onyango of Uganda, Algeria’s Yacine Brahimi, and Burkina Faso’s Bertrand Traore.
William Troost-Ekong, initially part of the 30-man shortlist, did not make the cut in the final selection. The winner of the African Player of the Year will be announced on January 4, 2018, in Accra, Ghana.
In the category for African Player of the Year based in Africa, Junior Ajayi, the Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medalist playing for Al Ahly in Egypt, earned a well-deserved spot in the top 10 nominees. The list also features Denis Onyango of Uganda, Ali Maaloul of Tunisia, Banse of Burkina Faso, Ben Malango of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Taha Yassine Khenissi of Tunisia, Morocco’s Mohamed Ounnajem, Ahmed Fathi of Egypt, and Achraf Bencharki of Morocco.
