My players played to instructions to defeat Italy, says Nigeria coach Ladan Bosso

Nigeria U20 head coach, Ladan Bosso has revealed that the players played according to his instructions to given to them a 2-0 victory over Italy in Mendosa on Wednesday.

The Flying Eagles subdued the Italian giants in group D to celebrate their second consecutive win of the competition and guaranteed their spot in the Round of 16 at the ongoing U20 FIFA World Cup.

And the Nigerian gaffer, admitted that the players were taught on how to cage the Italians, while expressing his joy over his wards getting the tactics right to give the country the win.

“You have seen it, it’s a good thing that we have orientated our boys on how to get the Italians, and we stuck to our tactics,” Bosso said during the press conference.

“After the first half, we tried to reinforce the team so that if we could not score, we shouldn’t be able to concede [goals], and eventually, it went for us.

“So that is a good thing that the boys are working according to the tactics, and the praise goes to Almighty Allah that we have gotten the victories.

“I dedicate this victory to those who criticise me. Their criticisms have certainly kept me on my toes.”

The Flying Eagles will battle the coach Ramon Menezes tutored Brazil side on Saturday May 27 at La Plata.
