Napoli director Mauro Melusa gives update on Victor Osimhen contract

Napoli director Mauro Melusa has provided an update on Victor Osimhen’s contract situation amid a negotiation standoff between the club and the Nigerian striker’s representatives.

Following recent drama with the club involving a viral TikTok video depicting Osimhen, speculations keep spreading that the Super Eagles striker could be set to leave the Partenopei.

The 24-year-old led Napoli to their first league title in 33 years with his league-high 26 goals.

The Nigerian has been linked with a move away from Napoli with Premier League clubs monitoring as talks on a new deal with the Partenopei have stalled since the summer.

According to Melusa, the club is set to have a fresh round of talks with the player’s representatives to discuss his contract extension.

With Osimhen facing up to six weeks out while injured, the club would like to get his answer as soon as possible.

“The president will meet with Victor’s agent to discuss that in the next weeks,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano.

“It’s also normal for Osimhen to take some time in order to think about the contract proposal we made.”
