Napoli incur Nigerians’ wrath with Victor Osimhen’s TikTok troll

The 24-year-ols missed a penalty in Napoli’s goalless draw against Bologna in Serie A on Sunday and has caught some expected flak but no one thought his club would ever join the pile of critics.

However, Osimhen has since apologized for his outburst to being substituted with six minutes plus additional time left to play.

Napoli’s official TikTok channel decided to capitalize on the situation by posting a video that mocked Osimhen.

The video humorously detailed Osimhen’s appeal for a handball penalty, only for him to subsequently miss the spot-kick.

As expected the video quickly drew reactions on social media, with some Nigerian fans perceiving it as offensive and possibly racist towards Osimhen.

Trust Nigerians – they know how to defend their own and they did just that in grand style! Many citizens of the West African nation lambasted Napoli for trolling their talisman on social media.

Popular social media influencer on X, AsiwajuLerry also reacted, “Dear @sscnapoli, your admin is on TikTok trolling your own Player, Victor Osimhen for missing a Penalty. Is this how you repay a Player who fought hard on the field to end your 33 years of waiting for a League title??”
