The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has warmly congratulated Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, on his historic election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

At the recent elections held in Brussels, Belgium, Adeniyi secured a landmark victory, becoming the first Nigerian to lead the 73-year-old international body, which comprises 186 member nations.

Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), President of the NFF and also President of the West African Football Union (WAFU), praised Adeniyi’s leadership qualities, saying:
“The NFF heartily congratulates CG Adeniyi on his well-deserved victory. His innate leadership skills, proven competence, resilience, and innovative spirit have earned him this prestigious global role. We are confident that he possesses the vision and wisdom to lead the WCO to new heights.”

Adeniyi is known not only for his professional excellence but also for his passionate support of Nigerian football.

He has consistently been a visible supporter and motivator of the national teams, attending matches and competitions and showing great care for players and officials alike.

President Gusau expressed optimism that Adeniyi’s new role will further enhance his capacity to support Nigerian football on both national and global stages.
