NFF to Inaugurate Electoral Committees Ahead of 2026 Elections

The Nigeria Football Federation will on Thursday, April 2, 2026, inaugurate its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee, following their constitution at last week’s Extraordinary General Assembly held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja and will be presided over by the NFF President and President of WAFU B, Ibrahim Musa Gusau.
A total of 12 individuals have been appointed across the two committees. The Electoral Committee will consist of seven members—five full members, including a chairperson, vice chairperson, and three others, alongside two alternates. Meanwhile, the Electoral Appeals Committee will comprise five members, with three full members and two alternates.
The Electoral Committee is tasked with overseeing and supervising the electoral process in line with the provisions of the NFF Statutes (March 2026 edition) and the Electoral Code (March 2026). It will manage all aspects of organizing, conducting, and monitoring elections during the Federation’s Congress.
The appointments, confirmed during the Extraordinary General Assembly on March 23, 2026, include Barr. Matthew Burkala, SAN; Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke; Mr. Emmanuel Dada Obafemi; Alhaji Babagoni Grema; Barr. Benjamin Sak; Mallam Bature Musa; Prof. Abdulmalik Awwal; Arinze Azubuike Anughere, Esq; Hon. (Dr) Akogun Olugbenga Omole; Abayomi Akin Omoyimi, Esq; Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie, Esq; and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam.
The inauguration marks the official commencement of activities by both committees in preparation for the NFF Executive Committee elections, scheduled to take place in Lafia, Nasarawa State on September 26, 2026.
