NFF cracks down on erring referee, suspends Charway indefinitely
By Dayo Awoniyi
The Nigeria Football Federation’s Refereeing Development Committee has suspended referee Wilfred Charway from officiating in Nigeria National League matches.
Charway’s suspension was triggered by his questionable officiating during the match between Solution FC and Godswill Akpabio FC in Awka on February 15.
The committee cited Charway’s unjustified penalty award, which contravened the Laws of the Game, as the reason for his suspension.
According to the committee, Charway’s actions unfairly influenced the match’s outcome and brought the game into disrepute.
In a directive signed by Committee Secretary Mohammed Ameenu, Charway was notified of his indefinite suspension, effective immediately.
“I am therefore directed to notify you that you have been stepped down indefinitely and with immediate effect from the league,” the directive read.
