The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed reports that its Statutes will be amended during the 2025 Annual General Assembly, scheduled for 27 September in Ibadan.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Federation described the speculation as “unfounded,” insisting that no constitutional changes are on the agenda for this year’s session.
The NFF clarified that a pre-Assembly workshop will hold on 26 September, with delegates from its member associations as well as officials from FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) expected in attendance.
The forum, according to the Federation, will focus on deliberating potential reforms and exploring proposals for future Statutes in line with international governance standards.
The football body stressed that the consultation process is still at an early stage. Any eventual amendments, it added, would require a separate General Assembly specifically convened to debate and adopt reforms.
“The NFF remains committed to working closely with its Members, FIFA and CAF to ensure that all processes related to its Statutes are transparent, credible and anchored on global best practices,” the statement read.
The Federation further noted that the long-term goal of the process is to establish a stronger governance framework that ensures inclusivity, fair stakeholder representation and sustainable growth of Nigerian football.
