NFF Disciplinary Committee Sanctions Kwara United with Fines, Points Deduction

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee has upheld several sanctions against Kwara United FC following incidents linked to one of the club’s fixtures in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

According to the committee’s decision, Sanction No.1 in the Summary Jurisdiction (Form 16) was adopted, confirming a fine of N2,000,000 against Kwara United for failing to provide adequate and effective security during the match.

The committee also upheld Sanction No.2, which imposes a further N1,000,000 fine on the club for failing to ensure the proper conduct of their supporters.

However, Sanction No.3 was set aside by the committee, having been addressed under subsequent sanctions, while Sanction No.4 was also dismissed as it had already been covered under Sanction No.2. Sanction No.5 was equally set aside due to lack of sufficient evidence.

The committee adopted Sanction No.6, imposing an additional N2,000,000 fine on Kwara United as compensatory costs for treatment and damages inflicted on match officials and officials of the away team, in line with Rule C12 of the NPFL Framework and Rules for the 2025/2026 season.

In addition, Sanction No.7 was upheld, resulting in the deduction of three points and three goals from Kwara United’s accumulated tally following the assault on match officials, in accordance with Rule C11 of the NPFL Framework and Rules.

Regarding venue sanctions, the committee partially adopted Sanction No.8, reducing the earlier directive that moved Kwara United’s home matches to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta for the rest of the season. The punishment has now been reduced to a five-match ban to run concurrently from the date the sanction was imposed.

The committee also upheld Sanctions Nos.9 and 10 in their entirety.

The NFF stated that all decisions remain subject to the right of appeal by the affected parties.
