NFF moves to clean up finances, approves fresh Audit and 2025 budget

By Dayo Awoniyi

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has taken fresh steps to improve transparency in its financial operations, approving a new audit process and the 2025 budget at its Executive Committee meeting held on Saturday, September 27, at Bon Hotels and Suites, Ibadan.

The decision comes after years of scrutiny from anti-graft agencies, with the EFCC and ICPC repeatedly investigating the Federation over allegations of mismanagement, weak accountability structures, and opaque sponsorship dealings.

In a communiqué, the NFF confirmed it had endorsed the Consolidated and Revised Balance Sheet and Profit-and-Loss Statement for the year ended December 31, 2024, as presented by its outgoing independent auditors, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

The Executive Committee also approved the Federation’s financial statements and proposed 2025 budget, while initiating the process of appointing a new independent auditor to replace PwC, whose tenure has expired.

The Federation commended PwC for what it described as diligent and meritorious service over the years.

The meeting was attended by NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, First Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Second Vice President Gbenga Elegbeleye, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, and other board members.
