NFF President Ibrahim Gusau hails referees after competitive NPFL opening day games

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau has hailed match officials who handled the opening day fixtures of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season concluded on Sunday.
The season opener witnessed four away wins and four draws with only two home teams win, including holders Rivers United subduing Lobi Stars 2-1 in Port Harcourt, Remo Stars seeing off El-Kanemi Warriors 2-0 in Ikenne.
Excited by the bright start to the campaign, the NFF boss acknowledged the credibility that was apparent in their output on the first day, and urged the officials to sustain the good officiating through out the season.
“I want to commend the NFF Referees Committee for putting their right foot forward from the beginning and also charge the referees themselves to sustain credible output going forward,” Gusau told media.
“We are determined to ensure that so many things about the League change for the better. I am happy with the results in which so many teams won on away ground, as well as the reports we received from most of the centres concerning the performance of the referees.”
