NFF president Ibrahim Gusau warns referee, match commissioners against ‘sabotage’

President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau has urged the referees and match commissioners to be professional in handling the league affairs as he will not condone any act of indiscipline.
The NFF supermo was speaking after inaugurating the referees and match commissioners committee of the NPFL season ahead of the kick-off date slated for 8th of January 2022 with Akwa United vs Bendel Insurance of Benin as the opening match of the season.
Gusau appreciated the committees headed by Mrs. Faith Irabor and Alhaji Babagana Kali, he promised them that, proper conducive environment will be provided for the match commissioners, referees and any form of sabotage that will bring the game to disrepute will not be welcomed.
“I want to thank you for accepting to serve on the committees. We took our time to come out with people who are known to us and they are selected on merit. They are people of character and integrity,” Gusau told the media.
“Under my watch, we will make sure you make proper appointments and we will make the environment conducive for you. We are making everything possible to make sure that we make prompt payment of the match officials as well as their allowances.
“The referees that will officiate in the league must have passed through you and we want them to know that we won’t allow any form of sabotage.
“I will not condone any form of indiscipline or anything that will bring the game into disrepute. We really want to change our football and do what is right because very soon, a lot of us will smile.”
