Niger Tornadoes technical adviser, Abubakar Bala has dropped 13 players from his squad to be listed in the transfer market for any interested client.
The Ikon Allah Boys couldn’t make it to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Super Six playoffs because they finished in sixth position in group A with 27 points.
After having a crucial meeting with the Niger State ministry of sports, Bala said, Niger Tornadoes have started early preparation for the NPL 2023/2024 season and he confirmed that 27 players from last season have been retained in the team.
“I want to confirm to you that, I have set things in motion for Tornadoes to begin its preparations early ahead of the kickoff of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier League season,” Bala told Sport Gigster.
“I had a meeting with the Niger State Ministry of Sports, where I informed them of my choice to retain 27 players from my squad while 13 have been put in the transfer market as they are a surplus requirement for the team.”
The Ikon Allah Boys won six matches, had five draws and seven losses in the recently concluded 2022/2023 season.
Niger Tornadoes recorded 16 goals and conceded 16 goals to finish the season with no goal difference.
