Nigeria duo of Sunday Juliet and Juliet Bassey scored a goal each to help FK Gintra to a 3-2 win against MFA Zalgiris in the Lithuanian Women’s League encounter.
The visitors had to come from behind twice before securing a slim win.
Ana Cheminava opened the scoring for the hosts inside the opening five minutes for an early advantage.
Four minutes later, Rachel Diodati equalized for Gintra in a keenly contested first half.
Cheminava converted her second goal of the game to restore Zalgiris’ lead in the 56th minute.
Four minutes later, Juliet Sunday equalised for her with the second equaliser of the game.
Three minutes from the end of the encounter, Juliet Bassey scored the winning goal for the visitors.
The two Nigerian players featured for the duration of the game as they played pivotal roles in the victory.
They joined Gintra from Bayelsa Queens after winning the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title and helping the Prosperity Girls to a third place finish at the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Zalgiris top the Lithuanian Women’s top-flight log with 19 points after eight games.
Gintra with 17 points follows closely after seven games.
Only the league Champions will qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) at the end of the season.
