Nigeria-eligible Folarin Balogun recounts his goalscoring feat against PSG

By Saheed Afolabi
Stade de Reims forward, Folarin Balogun recounted how Thierry Henry helped him to find the net against PSG.
The Nigeria-eligible striker is in top form in France as he has found the back of the net 15 times in 22 appearances and also scored to rescue his French side from defeat against the Paris giants in a 1-1 draw on January 29.
The on-loan Arsenal player said he met club legend Henry before the game and gave him some instincts and secrets in goalscoring against PSG.
“Before the PSG game, I went on a pitch reconnaissance, just to see the stadium and the quality of the pitch. It was then that I saw Thierry Henry since I had already seen him at Arsenal and we had already talked,” Balogun told media.
“I wanted to greet him. We talked for 20 minutes. He gave me advice about life in France, how to handle the pressure, how to express myself, how to stay confident.
“In the end, he told me that I shouldn’t hold back just because we were playing PSG, he told me that I was going to have plenty of space to exploit and that if I managed well, I was going to score. And that’s what happened.”
Reims have 41 points from 27 matches to sit in 10th position on the French Ligue 1 table and the Red and Whites will face second-place Marseille in their next game on the 18th of March 2023 at the Stade Auguste Delaune.
