The Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday revealed plans to name boards for domestic leagues, including Nigeria Premier Football League, Nigeria National League, Nigeria Nationwide League and Nigeria Women Football League.
The Executive Committee of NFF made the disclosure following Monday, 17th April 2023 meeting at the NFF Secretariat, Abuja, where they deliberated on key issues bothering on Nigerian Football.
This means the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), and the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) will get new leadership in a month time.
“In order to further rejuvenate the domestic game, the Board took a decision that within the next one (1) month, the Federation should, through its governing structure best practice and as enshrined in the Statutes, constitute boards for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the Nigeria National League (NNL), the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO),” the NFF Communique read.
The NPFL is currently under the administration of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) under the interim leadership of Gbenga Elegbeleye since the start of the 2022/2023 abridged league season in January 2023.
The NWFL, in a similar vein has been running under the interim watch of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Modupe Shabi since the commencement of 2022/2023 NWFL Premiership season last December after the expiration of a five-year long tenure of madam Aisha Falode.
In the same vein, the men’s second and third-tier leagues (NNL and NLO) are currently overseen by a COO since the exit of the pervious board on September 30 and now expects a new lease of life into the domestic leagues.
