Nigeria midfielder Christy Ucheibe celebrates Portuguese Super Cup title

Nigeria midfielder, Christy Ucheibe added the Portuguese Women’s Super Cup to the list of titles she has won on Wednesday.

Her team, SL Benfica recorded a 3-0 win on penalties over Sporting in the final of the 2023 Portuguese Women’s Super Cup.

Kika Nazareth had given Benfica the lead and hoped her goal would win the final match for the league winners.

Alas, Andrea Norheim equalised in the 73rd minute to take the game into penalties.

Norheim missed the first penalty during the shootout out which gave Benfica the advantage that was graciously taken.

At the end of the shootout, Benfica players converted their first three spot kicks.

Unfortunately, Sporting missed their first three penalties ensuring a 3-0 win for Benfica.

The win maintained Benfica’s dominance in the Portuguese women’s football and put them in confidence mode ahead of the league opener and final stage of the Champions League Qualifiers.
