Nigeria striker Victor Boniface wins German Bundesliga Rookie of the Month prize

Nigeria forward, Victor Boniface has emerged as the Rookie of the Month award for August, in the German Bundesliga.

The former Bodo/Glimt player has settled in well at Bayern Leverkusen since his switch ahead of the 2023/2024 season.

His four goals and two assists in just three league games earned him the prize.

He joined Leverkusen from Belgian side, Royal SG after scoring nine league goals for his former side last season.

After failing to score in his first game of the Bundesliga season, he has responded well with four goals in his last two league games.

He scored a brace as his new team secured a 3-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on August 26.

On September 2, before the international break, Boniface bagged another brace during Leverkusen’s 5-1 bashing of Darmstadt.

If he continues this scoring form, he is sure to be in the running for the league’s top goal scorer at the end of the campaign.

He is currently in the camp of Nigeria’s senior national team ahead of their next game against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday.

Another goal for him in the colours of the Super Eagles will put his form for club and country beyond reasonable doubt.
