Nigeria will lock horns with their Ghanaian counterpart in the bustling Moroccan city of Marrakech in an international friendly on Friday.
After being knocked out by Ghana for a ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria will want to secure a resounding win by using their recent stellar performance in Africa.
It is the first time both teams will play since suffering heartbreak at the Africa Cup of Nations, albeit at various stages of the tournament.
While the Super Eagles performed admirably to reach the final last month, the trophy ultimately went to the hosts, Ivory Coast.
On the other hand, Black Stars exited at the group stage and duly sacked manager Chris Hughton, who has been replaced on an interim basis by Otto Addo.
Meanwhile,  Finidi George will oversee matters for Nigeria following the departure of Jose Peseiro. Hence, both teams will be meeting under the direction of a new management.
Nigeria have been dealt a blow with Victor Osimhen having been ruled out with an inflammation of an old injury, as William Troost-Ekong and fullback Ola Aina are also unavailable due to injury.
However, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, and Wilfried Ndidi are all available for selection. With a first call-up, the African nation has chosen to give numerous potential players their debuts.
Benjamin Tainimu, the centre-back, has been called up for the first time in his career, joining promising players like Tyronne Ebuehi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Nathan Tella.
Nigeria’s defence will be led by Gabriel Osho of Luton Town, who possesses strong leadership abilities.
Ghana is also without a key player as Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will not be available as he looks to build up his fitness with the Gunners, and West Ham forward Mohammad Kudus will not be up for selection against Nigeria.
Although, Brighton right-back, Tariq Lamptey has returned from injury, which is good news for Otto Addo.
No other nation has beaten Nigeria more times than Ghana, having 22 victories and 11 defeats in 53 games since their first meeting in 1950.The game between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Black Stars of Ghana will be played in Marrakesh Morocco on Friday.

The game will kick off by 5 PM Nigerian time and is likely to available to watch on DSTV and the official social media platforms of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
