Nigeria Women Football League adjusts Week 11 and 12 Premiership fixtures
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has released adjusted fixtures for the 2022/2023 Premiership season.
According to a letter addressed to all NWFL Premiership teams signed by league’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Modupe Shabi, week 10 and 11 fixtures were rescheduled again.
The two weeks earlier scheduled to hold on March 1 and 15 respectively have been moved to March 22 and 29, 2023, respectively.
The new adjustment means that the league will resume on March 22 for the remaining five match weeks, the regular season now expected to end on April 19, 2023, before the Super Six.
The top three teams from Group A and B will qualify for the season-ending Super Six where the league Champions will emerge.
The winners of the league at the end of the Super Six will represent Nigeria at the 2023 West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Zonal Qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League with the chance to qualify for the main tournament later this year.
Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens won the last two editions of the NWFL Premiership and represented the country at the 2021 and 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Both sides alongside the likes of Delta Queens, Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Naija Ratels FC, Confluence Queens, FC Robo Queens, Adamawa Queens, and Abia Angels are still in contention to qualify for the Super Six depending on the results of the penultimate games of the regular season.
